JEJU, South Korea – Jeju Province has announced the selection of Gosan 2-ri and Jeonwon Village as the recipients of the 2025 Village-Unit Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Small Storage Tank Supply Project. This initiative, organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, aims to improve energy access and reduce costs for residents in areas lacking city gas infrastructure.
The project will allocate a total budget of 800 million KRW, with contributions from the national and provincial governments, as well as self-funding. This funding will support the installation of LPG small storage tanks, pipeline networks, and essential household equipment such as boilers and safety devices.
Jeju Province prioritized Gosan 2-ri and Jeonwon Village based on demand and regional equity, with plans to extend the project to additional villages in the coming years. This effort builds on the province's previous success in supplying LPG to 251 households across four villages between 2014 and 2022.
By 2028, the province aims to further expand LPG access to 5,193 households in six villages through the town and township-unit LPG pipeline network construction project.
Yang Je-yun, Director of the Innovation Industry Bureau, emphasized the province's commitment to ensuring a stable energy environment for all residents. "We will establish a comprehensive LPG supply system in both towns and small villages where city gas is not economically viable," said Director Yang. "Our goal is to continuously enhance energy welfare for all residents of Jeju Province."
This project is expected to significantly alleviate the energy cost burden on rural residents and improve their quality of life by providing access to a reliable and efficient energy source.
