South Chungcheong Province is set to establish an integrated cloud system to accelerate the adoption of private cloud services, aligning with the national Digital Platform Government initiative. The province held the South Chungcheong Province Cloud Working Council and the "2025 South Chungcheong Province Integrated Cloud Construction and Usage Fee Payment Project" kick-off meeting on March 6th.

The meeting, held at the Provincial Office, brought together approximately 30 officials from the province and its municipalities, as well as representatives from KT Corporation, the project's service provider. Discussions included the project's initiation report, Q&A sessions, updates on the province's ongoing projects, and the collection of stakeholder feedback.

KT Corporation, through its initiation report, pledged to design an optimized infrastructure that would enable the province to utilize private cloud services safely and efficiently. The province aims to create a shared integrated private cloud environment for the province and its municipalities, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and achieving budget savings through the use of a common infrastructure.

The project's key components include:

Designing and configuring a common infrastructure.
Migrating information system data.
Providing continuous operational support and security monitoring for cloud-based services.
The South Korean government, through its 2023 Digital Platform Government realization plan, has adopted a policy of fully transitioning to cloud-native environments based on private cloud services. In response, South Chungcheong Province formulated a mid-to-long-term cloud-native construction and transition plan last year and conducted joint training sessions with municipal officials.

The province plans to maintain ongoing communication with municipalities and gather diverse opinions, including expert consultations, to ensure the successful implementation of the integrated cloud system.

"This project marks the first step in realizing the mid-to-long-term plan we established last year," said Park In-moon, South Chungcheong Province's Information Officer. "We will do our utmost to build an integrated cloud infrastructure and realize a South Chungcheong-style digital platform local government, ensuring that no municipality is left behind."
