Chungju, South Korea – A new section of the Jungbu Inland Line, connecting Chungju to Mungyeong, officially opened on December 27th, marking a significant milestone in South Korea's transportation infrastructure. This 39.2-kilometer stretch is part of a larger project to connect the capital region with the country's central and southeastern regions.
The newly opened line, which required an investment of 1.3386 trillion won, will significantly reduce travel time between major cities. For instance, the journey between Pangyo and Mungyeong will now take only 94 minutes, compared to nearly two hours by car.
"The completion of the Jungbu Inland Line will not only enhance connectivity between regions but also boost economic growth and attract more visitors to the area," said [Name], a spokesperson for Chungbuk Province.
The new railway is expected to have a positive impact on several key areas:
Tourism: The line passes near popular tourist destinations such as Suanbo Hot Spring, Wolhak Mountain National Park, and Mungyeong Saejae.
Industry: The improved transportation infrastructure is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of industrial complexes in Chungju, Eumseong, and Goesan, especially the Chungju Biohealth National Industrial Complex.
Economic Growth: The increased accessibility is expected to attract more businesses and investments to the region, leading to job creation and economic growth.
With the completion of the Jungbu Inland Line, South Korea is taking another step towards becoming a transportation hub in East Asia. Future plans include connecting the line to Cheongju and expanding the railway network to other parts of the country.
