JAKARTA — In an aggressive push to capture a larger share of the Southeast Asian consumer market, Chungnam Province recently dispatched a delegation to Indonesia to promote its premium agricultural and processed food products.
From November 3 to 6, the provincial government hosted a dedicated Chungnam Agri-Food pavilion at SIAL Interfood 2026, one of the region's premier food industry exhibitions. The showcase featured three prominent regional exporters—Nature Oda, Geumsan Black Ginseng, and Daedong Korea Ginseng—who introduced a diverse lineup of goods ranging from traditional ginseng extracts to innovative rice-based delicacies.
During the multi-day event, provincial officials and participating companies engaged in intensive business-to-business (B2B) consultations with local buyers, laying the groundwork for upcoming distribution deals. The delegation also conducted on-site visits to major Indonesian food importers to evaluate distribution pipelines and foster long-term commercial partnerships.
A key focal point of the mission was enhancing the export logistics for Chungnam-grown pears. According to provincial representatives, routing shipments directly through the Port of Jakarta allows exporters to leverage favorable regional quarantine procedures. This strategic pathway is estimated to trim transportation times by three days and cut logistics costs by approximately 2 million Korean won compared to shipping routes utilized by other domestic regions, giving Chungnam produce a distinct competitive edge in pricing and freshness.
Beyond agricultural commodities, the delegation seized the international platform to promote upcoming regional events, notably the 2027 Nonsan Strawberry Industry Expo. Through multimedia presentations, promotional banners, and informational packets, officials actively courted key overseas importers and industry leaders to secure global participation.
"This exhibition served as a vital bridgehead for introducing Chungnam’s top-tier agricultural goods to the Indonesian market," a provincial spokesperson noted. "We remain committed to rolling out targeted marketing campaigns and discovering new buyer networks to sustainably bolster the global competitiveness of our local food industry."
