Egyptian Engineering Exports Surge 21.6% in First 10 Months of 2024

Cairo - Egyptian engineering exports have surged in the first ten months of 2024, reaching $4.392 billion, a significant 21.6% increase compared to the same period in 2023 when exports totaled $4.2 billion. This robust growth is driven by strong demand across key sectors, including cables, electrical equipment, automotive components, home appliances, and transportation.
November Performance: Engineering exports in November 2024 further strengthened, rising 12.5% to $451 million from $401 million in the same month last year.
Sectoral Growth:
Cables: 32.7% increase
Electrical Equipment: 6.1% increase
Automotive Components: 15.5% increase
Home Appliances: 4.6% increase
Electrical & Electronic Industries: 6.4% increase
Transportation: 92.4% increase
Key Export Destinations:
Europe: UK, Turkey, France, and Germany
Asia: Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Lebanon, and Oman
Africa: Libya, Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia
Government Support: To further boost the sector, the Egyptian government has implemented several measures, including:
Reduced Delayed Dues: A 15% reduction in delayed dues under the immediate cash payment initiative to enhance competitiveness.
Attracting Foreign Investment: Successfully attracted 12 international companies to invest in Egypt's home appliances and electrical sectors in 2023.
Employment Impact: The engineering sector plays a vital role in the Egyptian economy, employing 19% of the country's workforce.
Outlook: The Egyptian Engineering Export Council (EEC) aims to achieve $5 billion in engineering exports in 2024, representing a 16.3% growth compared to 2023. With continued government support and strong industry performance, this ambitious target appears increasingly attainable.
