Cheonan, South Korea – In a bid to boost local rice consumption and support the city's thriving bakery industry, Cheonan City has launched a citywide discount event on rice flour bread. The initiative, in partnership with the Cheonan Bakery Association, will run until February of the following year.
Seven popular bakeries, including Comangs Cake, Mollang Mollang Bakery, and G Bread, are participating in the event. They are offering a 20% discount on a variety of rice flour products, such as bread, cakes, and castella. This initiative comes as part of the city's broader efforts to promote the use of locally grown rice in food products.
Cheonan has a long-standing reputation as a "city of bread." To further solidify this reputation and encourage the use of local rice, the city has previously organized seminars on rice flour bread development and sold rice flour products at local food festivals.
"We are committed to supporting the growth of Cheonan's bakery industry," said Mayor Park Sang-don. "By connecting with government policies that promote rice production, processing, and promotion, we aim to create a sustainable future for our local bakeries."
