Seoul, South Korea – Samsung SDS has been recognized as South Korea's premier cloud service provider, according to the latest market share reports released by global IT market research firm IDC.
In the 2023 "Domestic Managed Cloud Services (MSP) Market Share Report," Samsung SDS claimed the top spot with a 23.9% market share. Additionally, the company secured the second position in the "Domestic Public Cloud Services (CSP) Market Share Report" with an 11.0% share. Samsung SDS emphasized that this is the highest market share among domestic companies in the CSP segment.
While Amazon Web Services (AWS) topped the domestic CSP market, Samsung SDS's strong performance underscores its growing dominance in the South Korean cloud services landscape.
IDC attributed Samsung SDS's success to its successful execution of numerous projects involving the migration of systems from various sectors, including public, manufacturing, and finance, to its Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP). These accomplishments have solidified the company's market position and enhanced customer satisfaction.
Samsung SDS has been aggressively expanding its cloud business across all domains. In the first three quarters of last year, the company reported a 30% year-on-year growth in cloud-related revenue, reaching 1.7238 trillion won.
"Building upon our accumulated IT experience and capabilities, we aim to be a strategic partner that accompanies our clients on their journey towards business innovation, cloud adoption, and generative AI," said Jeong-heon Lee, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Marketing at Samsung SDS.
