SEOUL — Samsung Electronics announced on the 14th that it is rolling out an update to the Samsung Health application, delivering a more sophisticated, personalized coaching service.
The Samsung Health app serves as Samsung's comprehensive health platform, integrating everyday health data tracking—such as workouts, sleep, and diet—with professional bio-monitoring features linked to the Galaxy Watch, including blood pressure and electrocardiogram (ECG) measurements.
This update focuses on helping users understand their body rhythms and exercise capacities, allowing them to apply tailored advice to their daily routines. In particular, the coaching functions in the "Sleep" and "Running" categories have been significantly revamped.
Regarding the sleep coaching overhaul, the minimum data requirement to start sleep coaching has been relaxed from 7 days out of a month to just "3 days within the past 2 weeks," enabling users to begin managing their sleep much faster.
Based on questionnaire data and 3 days of sleep records, the feature builds a customized 4-to-8-week sleep coaching program tailored to the user's sleep type, suggesting new sleep habits step-by-step each week. It also monitors sleep satisfaction and lifestyle changes to help users better understand their overall sleep status.
In particular, it incorporates principles of sleep habit improvement utilized in insomnia treatment into easy-to-practice daily checklists and sleep tips, supporting users in forming healthy sleep habits suited to their needs.
Examples include practical items managed directly by the user, such as avoiding smartphones 1 hour before bedtime, avoiding caffeine 6 hours before bedtime, and doing outdoor stretching after waking up.
A new "Sleep Balance" graph has also been introduced, allowing users to check their sleep status at a glance. Users can easily identify their current sleep condition and areas for improvement by viewing five core indicators on a single screen: actual sleep time, sleep consistency, time awake during sleep, sleep satisfaction, and energy score.

The "Running Coach" feature has also been refined to better suit individual users. The running coach levels have been expanded from 10 to 12, and new customized training programs for advanced runners have been added.
Additionally, social media (SNS) sharing features designed to celebrate running achievements and boost motivation have been strengthened. Running data recorded in Samsung Health can now be easily converted into optimized templates and shared across various social media platforms.
The newly unveiled features will be rolled out sequentially through updates to Samsung Health, and eligible devices or release schedules may vary.
"Personalized coaching in Samsung Health, which helps users fully understand their health data, is the first step toward driving healthy changes in daily life," said Hon-Soo Park, Vice President and Head of Digital Health Team at Mobile eXperience (MX) Business, Samsung Electronics. "Moving forward, we will continue to develop Samsung Health into a trustworthy health platform based on the Galaxy ecosystem and advanced digital health technologies."
