Daejeon, South Korea – Hannam University marked a significant milestone in the region's innovation ecosystem with the grand opening of its Campus Innovation Park on [date]. The park, the first of its kind in South Korea, is designed to foster a collaborative environment between industry, academia, and research institutions.
The opening ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Sang-woo Park, Vice Minister of Education Young-gon Kim, Daejeon Mayor Jang-woo Lee, and other dignitaries.
The Campus Innovation Park, a joint project funded by the government, the city of Daejeon, Daejeon Daegu district, and the Korea Land and Housing Corporation, is a prime example of public-private partnerships driving innovation. The park offers a range of facilities, including shared workspace for startups, office spaces for companies, and various support facilities such as maker spaces, seminar rooms, and a library.
Located within the Daejeon Research Development Special Zone, companies operating within the park are eligible for significant tax benefits, including corporate tax reductions and property tax exemptions. This incentive is expected to attract a diverse range of businesses, particularly those in the fields of biotechnology, information and communications technology, and machinery.
“We believe that the Campus Innovation Park will serve as a catalyst for regional development and industrial innovation,” said Hannam University President Seung-cheol Lee. “By providing a nurturing environment for startups and established companies, we aim to foster a vibrant innovation ecosystem that will benefit our community and the nation as a whole.”
Daejeon Mayor Jang-woo Lee expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “The establishment of the first industry-academia-research innovation hub in Daejeon is a momentous occasion. This, along with other major industrial complexes in the city, will solidify Daejeon's position as a leading economic hub.”
With its strategic location and comprehensive support services, Hannam University’s Campus Innovation Park is poised to become a driving force for innovation and entrepreneurship in South Korea.
