Asan, Chungnam Province, South Korea – Chungnam Province, under the leadership of Governor Kim Tae-heum, is set to open a world-class e-sports stadium in Asan by March 2026. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility was held today, marking a significant milestone in the province’s efforts to foster the growth of the e-sports industry in South Korea.
Located near the Cheonan-Asan KTX station, the 3,849 square meter stadium will feature a main arena seating 429 spectators, a smaller sub-arena, a running studio, player lounges, and a broadcasting room. With a total investment of 29.51 billion won, the stadium is expected to become a hub for e-sports competitions, events, and training.
“This new e-sports stadium represents a major investment in the future of Chungnam Province,” said Governor Kim Tae-heum. “We aim to make Chungnam a leading destination for e-sports and to provide our residents with a world-class facility to enjoy this exciting and rapidly growing sport.”
Beyond hosting e-sports tournaments, the stadium will also serve as a venue for cultural events, exhibitions, and concerts. The province plans to establish an e-sports academy to train aspiring professional gamers and to attract international e-sports teams to hold training camps in the region.
To further support the development of the e-sports industry in Chungnam, the province has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea e-Sports Association. The partnership will focus on promoting e-sports among youth, organizing university leagues, supporting the creation of e-sports teams, and developing new e-sports titles.
The new e-sports stadium is expected to have a significant economic impact on the region by attracting tourists, creating jobs, and fostering the growth of related industries. As the e-sports industry continues to expand globally, Chungnam Province is positioning itself as a leader in this exciting and dynamic sector.
