Dubai, UAE – Hyundai Motor, a leading global automotive company, today announced the delivery of Ioniq 5 electric vehicles to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the world's largest humanitarian organization fighting hunger worldwide.
The handover ceremony, held at the WFP Dubai Vehicle Base, was attended by key representatives from both organizations, including Lee Hang-soo, Executive Vice President of Hyundai Motor, and Sara Adam, Director of the Government Contributions Division at WFP.
Under a partnership agreement signed in July, Hyundai Motor and WFP have joined forces to support the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promote the use of eco-friendly mobility solutions for UN operations.
As part of this partnership, Hyundai Motor has donated a total of eight Ioniq 5 electric vehicles to the WFP. These vehicles will be used by WFP staff for their daily operations in various countries, including Italy, Egypt, Panama, South Africa, the Philippines, and Thailand.
"We are delighted to deliver the Ioniq 5 vehicles to the WFP," said Lee Hang-soo, Executive Vice President of Hyundai Motor. "Hyundai Motor is committed to working with the WFP to address global challenges such as hunger and climate change."
The donation of Ioniq 5 electric vehicles aligns with Hyundai Motor's commitment to sustainability and its vision of a cleaner future. By providing zero-emission vehicles to the WFP, Hyundai Motor is helping to reduce carbon emissions and contribute to a more sustainable planet.
