Seoul, South Korea – November 18, 2024 – The Overseas Korean Cooperation Foundation (OKCF), an affiliate of the Korean Overseas Koreans Affairs, successfully concluded its "2024 Second Half Overseas Korean Invited Scholarship Students' History and Culture Experience" program from November 15th to 17th.
Approximately 130 scholarship students from 30 countries around the world participated in the 3-day program, delving deep into Korea's rich history and cultural heritage.
The program offered a comprehensive exploration of Korea's past and present. In Gyeongju, the ancient capital of the Silla Dynasty, students visited Dae릉원 and Bulguksa Temple, gaining firsthand experience of Korea's ancient roots. They then traveled to Ulsan to tour Hyundai Heavy Industries, witnessing the remarkable advancements of Korea's industrial development. The program concluded in Busan, where students visited the APEC House, UN Memorial Cemetery, and the Busan Modern History Museum, broadening their understanding of Korea's modern history.
“We hope this program has provided our scholarship students with a valuable opportunity to experience Korea's past and present firsthand, fostering a deeper sense of pride in their homeland,” said Kim Young-geun, Director of the OKCF.
The OKCF plans to continue offering specialized programs to support overseas Korean scholarship students in developing a strong connection with their homeland and becoming global leaders.
