Suncheon, South Korea – The Suncheon Cultural Foundation has announced the hosting of the Suncheon Animal Film Festa (SAFF), a unique cinematic event designed for pet owners and their companions, running for three days from October 24 to 26 at Ocheon Green Square. This innovative, family-oriented film festival is set on the expansive lawn of the square, establishing a novel platform where nature, humans, and animals connect through the medium of cinema.
The festival’s central theme, 'Walking Together (同行),' encapsulates the spirit of companionship, featuring a curated selection of 10 films. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 7:00 PM on October 24 at the Ocheon Green Square main stage.
SAFF distinguishes itself through its diverse outdoor screening venues. Cinema 1 at Ocheon Green Square offers a unique viewing experience under the stars, deliberately invoking the ambiance of the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France. Cinema 2 provides a cozy and intimate setting within the Marronnier Forest, while Cinema 3 at the Jorye Lake Park operates as a vibrant space combining film viewing with lively Agora performances. The festival will conclude with a screening of the upcoming film, Good Boy, as its closing feature.
Significantly, this year's SAFF is being held concurrently with the 'Pet Culture Festival' and 'Daengdaeng Suncheon' events, elevating the gathering into a grand celebration of pet culture that seamlessly integrates cultural, artistic, sporting, and industrial elements.
A representative from the Suncheon Cultural Foundation emphasized the profound nature of the event: "This festival is not merely a cinematic event; it is a new type of festival that shares the value of emotional healing through interaction with companion animals. We aim to foster a sustainable companion animal industry ecosystem where culture and industry grow together." The festival is poised to become a vital nexus for the pet industry, promoting both cultural enrichment and economic growth.
