Seoul, South Korea – Kia Corporation, a leading global automaker, has unveiled its EV3 Study Car, an eco-friendly experimental model that incorporates recycled materials and natural resources into its interior and exterior components. The vehicle was officially unveiled on the company's YouTube channel on [date].
Kia has developed a total of 22 recycled plastic and bio-based material technologies, replacing 69 components of the existing EV3 small electric SUV. For instance, the steering wheel and console are made from "apple skin," a material derived from apple peels, while discarded mushroom cultivation waste is used in the vehicle's wireless charging pad.
The vehicle's exterior, including the roof and garnishes, utilizes a composite material made from natural fibers and bio-polymers. Components such as the bumper, door trim, and frunk (front trunk) are made from recycled plastics recovered from end-of-life vehicles.
"The EV3 Study Car is a model created to verify the potential for developing vehicle materials that can contribute to solving global environmental problems," said a Kia official. "It is the result of our commitment to sustainable resource circulation. We will continue to expand the development of low-carbon and recycled material technologies to ensure the eco-friendliness of our main vehicle materials."
On [date] and [date], Kia hosted an "Eco-Friendly Materials and Vehicle Exhibition" at its Namyang Research Center (located in Namyang-eup, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do), where the EV3 Study Car was unveiled to employees alongside key global materials suppliers. By introducing the EV3 Study Car, Kia demonstrates its dedication to sustainable practices and its commitment to developing innovative solutions to environmental challenges. The company's focus on recycled materials and natural resources sets a new benchmark for the automotive industry, inspiring others to follow suit in creating a more sustainable future.
