Seoul, South Korea – Samsung C&T and Hyundai Engineering & Construction, South Korea’s top two construction companies, are locked in a fierce competition for the redevelopment project of Hannam 4 in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Both companies are promising innovative designs and unobstructed Han River views to win over the project.

The Hannam 4 redevelopment project involves constructing a 51-building complex with a total of 2,331 residential units, spanning across 7 basement levels and 22 above-ground floors. The total project cost is estimated at 1.5723 trillion won. The construction company will be selected through a vote by the residents' association in January next year.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction is leveraging its high-end brand "The H," while Samsung C&T is relying on its signature "Raemian" brand.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction has partnered with renowned architectural firm Zaha Hadid Architects. Hadid, known for her innovative, curvaceous designs and a recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, is bringing her signature style to the Hannam 4 project. The complex, to be named "The H Hangang," will feature 88,000 curved aluminum panels, creating a striking and fluid appearance. The company aims to create a residential complex that is also a work of art.

To maximize river views, the company plans to reduce the number of buildings from 51 to 29, minimizing interference between units. Additionally, larger units will offer a variety of terrace options, including protruding and open terraces. Hyundai will also introduce a unique feature: a double sky bridge connecting three buildings with a 190-meter span and another connecting two buildings with an 110-meter span, both designed with Zaha Hadid's signature curves.

Not to be outdone, Samsung C&T is collaborating with global design firm UN Studio to maximize Han River views. The four buildings facing the river will feature a spiral-shaped design, ensuring that every unit has an unobstructed view. Samsung will also incorporate its "Next Home" technology, offering customizable floor plans to suit individual lifestyles.

The company plans to build a 39,669.4 square-meter community facility, offering a variety of amenities including sports facilities and cultural spaces. A "sky community" will provide panoramic views of the Han River, Namsan Mountain, and Yongsan Park. Samsung will also create a 365-meter-long eco-friendly walkway, "Hyeline 365," connecting the Han River and Namsan Mountain.

Samsung has named its project "Raemian Glow Hills Hannam," symbolizing brightness and prosperity.
