The new tool offers real-time, multi-language conversation capabilities, promising to revolutionize how we communicate across language barriers.

Launched in 2017, DeepL has quickly gained recognition for its accurate and nuanced text translations. With DeepL Voice, the company is now expanding into the realm of real-time voice translation. The solution is designed for businesses and offers two primary features:

DeepL Voice for Meetings: This feature allows participants in video conferences to speak in their preferred language, with real-time subtitles provided in the languages of other participants. DeepL Voice for Meetings integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Teams, enabling efficient multilingual collaboration.
DeepL Voice for Conversations: A mobile solution designed for one-on-one conversations, this feature provides on-screen subtitles in two languages, allowing people who speak different languages to communicate effectively using a single device.
A key feature of DeepL Voice is its ability to adapt to various accents, dialects, and speaking speeds. Christopher Osborne, Vice President of Product at DeepL, explained that the company's translation models are trained on diverse datasets, enabling them to accurately understand and translate a wide range of speech patterns.

DeepL has emphasized the quality of its translations as a differentiator from competitors. While other AI translation services are available, DeepL claims that its technology is able to capture nuances and context more accurately, providing a more natural and human-like translation experience.

The launch of DeepL Voice comes as the AI translation market continues to grow rapidly. According to CNBC, Vasco Pedro, CEO of Unbabel, another AI translation company, recently stated that while humans may still have a slight edge in very challenging translation scenarios, this advantage is diminishing rapidly. Pedro predicted that within three years, human involvement in translation tasks will be significantly reduced, although human oversight will likely remain necessary.
