For the first time, a capacity-building workshop for not only Korean language school teachers but also students and parents was held in Atlanta, USA.
The Overseas Koreans Agency (Commissioner Lee Sang-deok) held the ‘Workshop to Enhance the Capabilities of Korean Language Schools with the Overseas Koreans Agency’ in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, from April 18 to 20 (local time).
Organized in cooperation with the Southeastern Region Council of Korean Schools in America (NAKS-SEKSA) (President Roh Si-hyun), the workshop was attended by over 210 people, including about 110 Korean language school teachers from the Southeast region, 60 students, and 40 parents.
While the Overseas Koreans Agency has held workshops for teachers before, this was the first time it directly visited local schools to conduct demonstration classes and lectures for students and parents.
This workshop included programs for teachers, special lectures for parents, and demonstration classes for elementary, middle, and high school students.
The teacher workshop was held on the 18th at the Avalon Hotel Conference Center in Atlanta. Teachers attended lectures such as ‘Looking Closely at Good Lessons’ and ‘Expressing Fluently from Vocabulary to Paragraphs,’ and also participated in a workshop on the theme of ‘Strategy-Oriented Teaching-Learning Design and Application.’
