MANILA – Alfamart, the convenience store chain owned by the Sy family, is actively pursuing partnerships with micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to drive inclusive economic growth. The company is offering dedicated spaces within its stores to local businesses, creating opportunities for them to expand their reach and connect with a wider customer base.
SM Investments Corp. announced Wednesday that Alfamart's latest collaboration is with Laundry Express, a self-service laundry shop boasting over 52 locations nationwide. This partnership follows successful collaborations with other popular MSMEs such as Coco Fresh Tea & Juice and Potato Corner.
"As we expand our footprint, we are committed to ensuring that the communities we serve grow alongside us," stated Harvey Ong, Chief Operating Officer of Alfamart Philippines. "By providing space within our stores for MSMEs, we are not only empowering local entrepreneurs but also enhancing the overall shopping experience for our customers."
Alfamart is set to accelerate its expansion in Luzon, aiming to open 200 new stores this year. This growth follows a successful 2024, which saw the company reach 2,100 outlets and generate 2,500 new jobs.
Currently, Alfamart operates in 11 provinces across Luzon, including Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Pangasinan, and Zambales, as well as 15 cities within Metro Manila.
"Our priorities remain focused on fostering inclusive growth, generating more business and employment opportunities, and delivering modern minimart convenience to communities as we embark on our second decade of serving the Filipino people," Ong emphasized.
