[GLOBAL ECONOMIC TIMES] The nationwide MaaS (K-MaaS) service, which allows users to use various transportation methods such as railroads, airlines, buses, and personal transportation (PM) through a single mobile app (application, Supermove), began on the 28th.
According to the Metropolitan Transportation Committee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, MaaS is a concept that links various means of transportation such as railways, buses, and airlines to provide route search, reservation, and payment services through a single app. Currently, most transportation methods require route searches on Naver Maps, etc., and then reservation and payment through apps for each method, causing inconveniences such as installing multiple apps. Once MaaS is realized, it is expected that people's transportation convenience will be improved as reservations and payments for all transportation methods can be made at once through one app. In addition, the mobility industry can develop, with various business models created by linking sectors such as tourism, accommodation, and insurance based on transportation.
The K-MaaS service can be conveniently used by anyone through the mobile app ‘Super Move’. Using the SuperMove app, you can search for the optimal route to your destination and check real-time timetables, make reservations, and make payments for various transportation methods such as railways, airlines, and buses on the route you select. There is no need to install apps for each means of transportation.
The Metropolitan Area Transportation Committee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to expand K-MaaS' transportation service app to services linking transportation, tourism, and lodging. To this end, an additional public offering for private service platform operators will be held from the 30th to the 29th of next month. Daekwang Committee Chairman Kang Hee-eop said, “Going forward, we will continue to expand our means of transportation and further enhance our services to contribute to the revitalization of local tourism by linking tourism information.”
