Asunción, Paraguay – The U.S. Embassy in Paraguay recently announced that the United States and Paraguay have reaffirmed their mutual cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking, emphasizing collaboration in drug enforcement between the two nations. Through a joint statement, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) pledged its continued support for Paraguay's efforts to combat drug trafficking and transnational criminal organizations.
As part of this enhanced cooperation, Paraguay will continue its participation in the 'Sensitive Investigative Unit (SIU)' alongside the Paraguayan National Anti-Drug Secretariat (SENAD). This agreement plays a crucial role in strengthening the ability to investigate and dismantle criminal networks operating in the region that threaten the security of both countries.
Government representatives from both countries expressed confidence that this partnership will play a pivotal role in the fight against organized crime. "Paraguay and U.S. drug enforcement cooperation is essential to ensuring a safer environment for our people," the statement said.
This strengthened bilateral cooperation reflects the long-term commitment of both countries to addressing the problems posed by drug trafficking, and demonstrates that the fight against organized crime remains a strategic priority in the U.S.-Paraguay relationship.
