Seoul, South Korea – WasteEnergySolution, a leading South Korean company specializing in plastic recycling technology, has highlighted its competitive edge in the thermal decomposition of waste plastics and its commitment to fostering community partnerships at the 2024 Circular Economy Festival.
The company’s innovative process involves converting household and marine plastic waste into pyrolysis oil, a refined oil produced by heating plastics in the absence of oxygen. This oil can be further processed into various petrochemical products such as naphtha and diesel.
"While marine waste is often disposed of through incineration or landfill by private companies, monitoring and enforcement are often inadequate, leading to illegal dumping," said a representative from WasteEnergySolution. "We propose collaborating with local governments to replace outdated technologies with chemical recycling methods."
The company boasts state-of-the-art technology and processes for plastic pyrolysis, including a continuous pyrolysis plant in Shinan County capable of processing a constant feed of waste plastics. The company also holds multiple patents related to its technology.
WasteEnergySolution is leveraging the heat and gas generated from the pyrolysis process to create additional value for local communities. "We have used the waste heat to generate hot water for local boilers and recently supplied hot water to a smart farm in Goheung County," the representative explained.
By partnering with farmers and fishing communities, the company is creating jobs and fostering a sustainable ecosystem. "We are working to develop a 'mobile pyrolysis vessel' that can be deployed to address marine plastic pollution," the representative added.
The 2024 Circular Economy Festival, held at COEX Magok in Seoul from April 4th to 6th, provided a platform for WasteEnergySolution to showcase its groundbreaking technology and its commitment to a more sustainable future.
