Hong Kong actor Owen Cheung recently made a trip to Singapore, where he indulged in the local cuisine and reconnected with fans. The visit marked his first return to the city-state since attending the StarHub TVB Awards in 2017.

Cheung expressed a particular fondness for Singaporean cuisine, especially laksa. “I really love laksa,” he said. “I can’t handle spicy food very well, but I love laksa.” He revealed that he had enjoyed a hearty meal of steak and laksa the night before the interview.

The actor also shared his appreciation for the local condiment of soy sauce with chili slices, which is not as readily available in Hong Kong. When shopping for gifts for his family and friends, he was recommended a snack made from salted fish skin.

Cheung expressed his strong affection for chili crab instant noodles, saying, “I really love chili crab instant noodles, which you can’t find in Hong Kong. I bought about 30 to 40 packs to bring back. It’s a bit extreme, isn’t it?” he laughed.

On November 8th, Cheung joined fellow TVB actors Benjamin Cheung and Hera Chan at the TVBI Parade 2025 event, where they introduced their new dramas, "D.I.D. 12" and "Anonymous Signal." He later attended a TVB artist fan meeting in Geylang, engaging with fans through games and photos.

Reflecting on the past year, Cheung expressed his happiness with the dramas he had worked on and shared that he had been taking time for himself to make some lifestyle changes. “In the past, I used to wake up around 3 or 4 PM, but now I wake up at 7 AM to take my nephew to school and then go to the gym to play tennis with my friends. By noon, I can do whatever I want,” he shared.

“Before, I could only do one thing at a time, like shopping or going out for dinner. But now, I can do what I want, like going to the gym,” he added.

Cheung also revealed that he had experimented with a vegan diet for three months. “I tried being a vegetarian while filming the drama ‘City Under Siege’. I heard it was good for my health, but I was told that maintaining a vegan diet could be difficult and weaken my body. However, that wasn’t my experience. Everyone is different, but I think it’s important to try it for yourself,” he said.

However, he eventually stopped being a vegan when he visited his family and relatives during Chinese New Year. “I didn’t want to be picky when I was with my family. I wanted to enjoy eating with them, so I stopped being a vegan and enjoyed meals with my family.”
