KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency) successfully hosted the "2030 Global ODA Awards," a sharing session to review the past five months of activities of the 6th season of the "KOICA Global Supporters WeKO," at the KOICA headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do on the 6th.
This event was uniquely structured as if WeKO had been invited to the "2030 Global ODA Awards," set in the year 2030, the deadline for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, the event garnered great enthusiasm by creating an intriguing storyline where supporters worked together to solve global challenges faced in the present to find the mysterious figure "Goikha," who holds the key to solving these problems.
The 130 creators who served as WeKO Season 6 members were selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants, with a final competition rate of 7:1. The global division, in particular, saw a fierce competition rate of 13:1 from 25 countries worldwide. The members consisted of 99 domestic participants (university students and general public) and 31 global participants (foreigners residing in Korea or abroad). This year's WeKO supporters were primarily composed of members of Generation Z who possess creative abilities and are familiar with trendy platforms such as short-form videos.
For approximately five months from August to December, WeKO Season 6 created a total of 4,844 pieces of content, including short-form videos and card news, to raise awareness among young people about global challenges such as poverty, inequality, war, and climate change, and to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The content, produced in various languages for both Koreans and global audiences, garnered significant attention and response, with a cumulative reach of 47.59 million and 31.05 million reactions.
