The Paraguayan Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has officially announced the bidding process for the construction project of a major hospital in Asunción. The total investment amounts to 46 million US dollars (approximately 62 billion Korean Won), and the construction funds will be provided by the Taiwanese government.

Detailed information about this project has been made public through the website of the National Directorate of Public Procurement (DNCP), and the hospital site is located in the Tacumbu area, on the southern coast of Asunción, in what was formerly known as the Capitán Bozano region.

Minister of Public Works and Communications Claudia Centurión announced this fact at a press conference, stating that the estimated cost of the project is 368 billion Guaraníes (PYG), equivalent to approximately 46 million US dollars. Minister Centurión urged, "We ask all construction companies to carefully review the bidding conditions and considerations and actively participate in the bidding process," and added, "The deadline for submitting bids is May 27, 2025." She also reiterated that the construction funds are being provided by Taiwan.

The Asunción major hospital construction project has a total area of 38,000 square meters, and the construction period is scheduled for 30 months from the commencement date. Once a contract is signed with the winning construction company, the contractor will undertake the design phase. Furthermore, a fast-track construction schedule, including step-by-step approval procedures, will be applied. All schedules are subject to adjustment in accordance with Paraguayan Law No. 7021.

Meanwhile, prior to this announcement of the bidding for the Asunción major hospital construction, the government had already announced plans several months ago for the construction of the Chaco Hospital in the Mariscal Estigarribia region. The bidding for this hospital construction project is expected to commence within this week and will be financed by funds from the Itaipu Dam.

The construction of this major hospital in Asunción is expected to significantly improve access to healthcare services in the metropolitan area and effectively respond to the increasing medical demand. In particular, the active financial support from the Taiwanese government is seen as a crucial stepping stone for expanding Paraguay's medical infrastructure.
