Seoul, South Korea – Clobotics, a leading intelligent robot service company, announced today that it has successfully conducted infrastructure safety inspections using the four-legged robot Spot, in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Construction Technology.
During the inspections conducted in September and October, the robot was equipped with a 3D laser scanner (BLK Arc) to perform precise safety assessments of bridges and tunnel facilities. This innovative approach significantly reduces the risks associated with traditional inspection methods, while also enabling the collection of accurate data from confined spaces that are difficult for humans to access.
The successful deployment of Spot marks a significant milestone in the application of robotics for infrastructure management in South Korea. By leveraging advanced technologies, this project demonstrates the potential for improving safety and efficiency in the construction industry.
The Korea Institute of Construction Technology expressed satisfaction with the results of the collaboration, recognizing the positive impact that advanced technologies can have on infrastructure safety management. The institute plans to continue working with Clobotics to establish new standards for infrastructure management through the adoption of cutting-edge technologies.
A spokesperson for Clobotics stated, "This inspection using Spot represents a groundbreaking approach to enhance both the safety and efficiency of infrastructure management. We aim to expand the application of this technology to various infrastructure management sectors, contributing to the creation of a safer society."
