The "14th Brazil Korean Film Week" to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation successfully opened on June 12 and will run until June 19 at REAG Belas Artes, an art house cinema in the heart of São Paulo.

This event was organized by the Korean Cultural Center in São Paulo (Director Kim Cheol-hong) in collaboration with Pandora Filmes, a leading independent film distributor in Brazil.

This year's film week specifically focuses on the theme of "80th Anniversary of Liberation", showcasing a diverse collection of films set against the backdrop of the Japanese colonial period and liberation. A total of 22 Korean films, including 15 feature films and 7 short films, will be presented to the Brazilian audience.

On the opening day, June 12, a cocktail reception was held at the theater from 6 PM, setting an exciting atmosphere. The event was attended by Korean producers in the film industry, as well as various figures from the Brazilian cultural and arts scene, including local film professionals, critics, and journalists, all demonstrating their high interest in Korean cinema. Following the reception, the screenings officially began at 7 PM, with Kim Jee-woon's espionage drama, "The Age of Shadows," shown as the opening film.

Director Kim Jee-woon personally attended the opening ceremony, engaging in conversation with the audience and receiving enthusiastic applause. He stated, "The film 'The Age of Shadows' tells the story of people who did not lose hope amidst the chaos of the Japanese colonial period. I hope that through this film, Brazilian audiences will have an opportunity to understand Korea's historical pain and spirit."
