[GLOBAL ECONOMIC TIMES] As you walk along the road, there is a scenery you can easily encounter. Electric kickboards lying on one side of the sidewalk, electric kickboards blocking the bike path, and even electric kickboards indifferently parked on stairs or at the entrance of a building. Electric kickboards, which were established as a convenient means of transportation, have now turned into a nuisance that harms the aesthetics of the city and threatens the safety of pedestrians.
The unauthorized abandonment of electric kickboards goes beyond simple inconvenience and is leading to a serious social problem. First of all, it threatens the safety of pedestrians. In particular, the visually impaired or the elderly can be seriously injured when hit by an electric kickboard that suddenly appears. Additionally, electric kickboards that are left unattended spoil the aesthetics of the city and undermine the image of the entire city. A neatly organized city has a positive impact on citizens, but indiscriminately abandoned electric kickboards clutter the entire city and further raise doubts about citizens' civic consciousness.
Why does the problem of unauthorized abandonment of electric kickboards occur? The biggest cause is the irresponsible behavior of users. The root of the problem is a selfish attitude that does not care about the inconvenience of others as long as it is convenient for oneself. Additionally, poor management by electric kickboard sharing companies also plays a role. Problems are pointed out as failing to properly manage users' usage patterns and failing to quickly retrieve abandoned electric kickboards.
Multifaceted efforts are needed to solve these problems. First of all, we need to increase the civic awareness of users. We need to instill awareness that electric kickboards are public goods, not just a means of transportation, and encourage responsible use that does not cause harm to others. In addition, electric kickboard sharing companies must manage users' usage behavior more thoroughly and establish a system to quickly retrieve abandoned electric kickboards. The government should also strengthen related laws and make efforts to expand electric kickboard parking spaces in cooperation with local governments.
The problem of unauthorized abandonment of electric kickboards is emerging as a problem that all members of society must solve together. If we all put in a little effort, electric kickboards will be able to establish themselves as a convenient means of transportation and at the same time an eco-friendly means of transportation that does not harm the aesthetics of the city.
