Korean golfer Lee Seung-taek, affectionately known as “The Grizzly Bear,” is poised to make his debut on the Korn Ferry Tour, the PGA Tour’s developmental circuit.
Lee departed for Florida on [date] to kick off his new season. After securing a joint 14th place finish at the PGA Tour Qualifying School last year, he has earned a spot in 12 Korn Ferry Tour events this year. His first tournament will be the Bahamas Golf Classic, followed by five additional events in Panama, Colombia, and Argentina through February.
“I’m both nervous and excited to be making my Korn Ferry Tour debut,” said Lee. “The course for the opening tournament is known for its strong winds, but I personally enjoy playing in windy conditions, so I’m confident. My goal is to start the season strong. I’ll do my best.”
Lee will be joined in the tournament by fellow South Korean golfers Bae Sang-mun and Noh Seung-yul, both of whom have PGA Tour victories, and Kim Sung-hyun, who recently stepped down from the PGA Tour.
In the spirit of giving back, Lee donated 5 million won to the Gwangju City Association for Parents of Disabled Children ahead of his Korn Ferry Tour challenge. “I believe that it’s important to make consistent donations, even if the amount is small,” said Lee. “I plan to continue my philanthropic activities in the future.”
