Cheonan, South Korea – The '2025 Cheonan K-Culture Expo,' a premier event showcasing South Korea's vibrant cultural industries, is set to undergo a significant transformation, integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and immersive content to offer an enhanced visitor experience. This year's expo, the third of its kind, will run for five days from June 4th to 8th at the Independence Hall of Korea in Cheonan.

The event, jointly hosted and organized by Cheonan City, the Independence Hall of Korea, and the Cheonan Cultural Foundation, aims to expand and refine its offerings, focusing on a more visitor-centric, interactive expo. Kim Seok-pil, Acting Mayor of Cheonan, announced a comprehensive overhaul, including the expansion of exhibition halls and performance content, alongside operational enhancements.

Under the theme "Global K-Culture, Blossoming in the World," the expo will span exhibitions, performances, experiential activities, industrial exchange, and digital content, striving to foster new cultural value. A key focus is on bolstering the expo's unique competitive edge through content upgrades. The number of exhibition halls will increase from five to seven, each incorporating cutting-edge technologies such as AI, immersive media, extended reality (XR), and interactive technology to heighten visitor engagement.

New additions include dedicated halls for Video Content and Game Industries, while the existing Hangeul Zone will be expanded into a comprehensive Hangeul Industry Exhibition Hall. Visitors to the Beauty Hall can experience AI-driven personalized beauty product recommendations, while the Video Content Hall will feature "Interactive AI Cinema," an AI-based film production experience program. The Game Hall will host diverse interactive content, including an AR reality game zone utilizing AI and XR, a board game zone, indie game booths, and a 3D character modeling experience. The Webtoon Hall will offer a unique experience where visitors can create webtoons by simply inputting text to generate images. The Hangeul Hall will leverage immersive media to reinterpret the beauty and historical significance of the Korean alphabet.

The main exhibition will visually represent the "fandom culture" that has propelled K-culture's growth. The Food Hall will center on Korean sauces, offering diverse tasting experiences and recipe suggestions.

The expo's performance lineup is designed to appeal to all generations, featuring a diverse array of shows. From the opening celebration to a K-OST Concert, a K-Retro Performance for older generations, a nostalgic C'est Si Bon Concert, and a live broadcast of SBS's "Wendy's Youngstreet" with popular singers, to a Teenieping Musical for children, the program ensures broad appeal.

Visitor comfort and safety are paramount this year. Rest areas, including sunshades, parasols, and nursing rooms, will be expanded. Three medical support stations and five ambulances will be on standby for swift emergency response. In a nod to environmental sustainability, fireworks will be replaced with a drone light show. To manage crowd flow, increased signage, security, and safety personnel will be deployed within the exhibition halls.

Additional zones, including Welcome, Challenge, K-Experience, Kids, Food, and K-Univ Zones, will be established. Fringe performances by young artists, a Memorial Day tribute concert, a Veterans Culture Festival, K-Talk Shows, and K-pop cover dance performances are also planned.

The "K-Culture Industry Conference," illuminating the diverse currents of K-culture from AI to the New Hallyu, will feature prominent figures such as Hansan Lee-ga, author of the web novel "Severe Trauma Center: Golden Hour," and webtoon artist Hong Bichira.
