BEN TRE - The Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre has successfully completed six key marine economy projects in Ba Tri District, representing a total investment of VND 1.042 trillion (US$42 million).
Funding for these projects was provided by both the central government and the provincial budget.
The completed projects include:
New roads leading to the Ba Tri fishing port, enhancing connectivity and facilitating logistics.
Chau Ngao Bridge, improving transportation and accessibility within the district.
A storm shelter for fishing boats, providing crucial protection for local fishermen and their vessels during inclement weather.
Infrastructure for a high-tech shrimp farming area, promoting sustainable and efficient aquaculture practices.
Infrastructure supporting sustainable economic development, enabling the district to adapt to the challenges of climate change.
Infrastructure to prevent coastal erosion, mitigating the significant environmental and economic impacts of this ongoing issue.
Le Minh Truyen, Deputy Director of the province's Management Board of Investment Project on Constructing Agricultural and Rural Development Works, confirmed that all completed projects have been put into operation and are already contributing to the socio-economic development of Ba Tri District.
He also emphasized that further projects are currently underway and will be completed soon.
These investments in the marine economy are expected to have a significant positive impact, including:
Promoting the sustainable development of the marine sector.
Stabilizing the livelihoods of local communities, particularly those dependent on fishing and aquaculture.
Enhancing national security by strengthening coastal infrastructure and supporting the resilience of coastal communities.
Ba Tri District, recognized as one of three coastal localities in Ben Tre with exceptional potential in seafood, agriculture, and aquaculture, has long faced challenges due to inadequate infrastructure and severe coastal erosion.
The successful completion of these projects is expected to address these critical issues and significantly accelerate the socio-economic development of Ba Tri District.
