Seoul, South Korea – NewJeans, the sensation-causing K-pop girl group, has achieved another significant milestone. The music video for their hit song "OMG" has surpassed 300 million views on YouTube, marking the group's first video to reach this impressive number.
ADOR, the group's agency, confirmed on Tuesday that the performance version of the "OMG" music video, which was released alongside the single of the same name on January 2, 2023, had officially crossed the 300 million views threshold.
The "OMG" music video features a catchy blend of UK Garage and trap rhythms, presented in a fun and upbeat hip-hop R&B style. The performance version showcases the members in adorable bunny hats and bags, delivering a charming and energetic performance.
Upon its release, "OMG" quickly topped domestic music charts, securing the number one and two spots alongside its B-side, "Ditto." The song also marked a significant achievement for NewJeans, who had only debuted six months prior, by entering the Billboard Hot 100 chart. On Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, the song has been streamed over 760 million times.
With this latest achievement, NewJeans now has a total of five music videos with over 100 million views. In addition to the "OMG" performance video, the group has other successful videos including the "Hype Boy" performance video and "Super Shy" music video, both exceeding 200 million views, as well as "Ditto" performance video and "Cookie" music video, each surpassing 100 million views.
Ongoing Legal Dispute
Amidst their continued success, NewJeans has been embroiled in a legal dispute with their agency, ADOR. In November 2023, the members announced their intention to terminate their exclusive contracts with ADOR and pursue independent activities. In response, ADOR filed a lawsuit seeking to confirm the validity of the existing contracts, which are set to expire on July 31, 2029.
