Korean-American artist Park Soyoung, renowned for her unique blend of traditional Korean art and contemporary expression, is set to unveil her latest works at the 2024 CICA Gallery Festival in Gimpo, South Korea. The exhibition, scheduled for November 13-17, marks the artist's second solo exhibition in Korea this year.
Park's new series of oil paintings, including "A Roaring Tiger," "Accompany," "Dynamics," "Last Summer," and "Tiger inside the Kimchi Pot," reimagines the traditional Korean tiger motif, infusing it with contemporary themes and emotions to create a sense of familiarity and resonance with viewers.
In addition to her physical exhibition, Park will also launch a virtual gallery on Collery (gallery.collery.io), offering viewers a comprehensive look at her artistic journey. The online gallery will showcase a wide range of works, from her early oriental paintings to her more recent oil and ceramic pieces, allowing viewers to explore her art without geographical limitations.
The upcoming exhibition is expected to further solidify Park's reputation both domestically and internationally. Her previous solo exhibition in Bukchon Hanok Village in June drew considerable attention from art enthusiasts in the United States, Europe, and China. Moreover, Park's artistic prowess has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the TopartAwards Art Masters Summer 2024 Exhibition and the 17th Korean Folk Painting Competition, where her work "Encounter" garnered significant acclaim.
Park Soyoung, having studied traditional Chinese painting in China and taught art in Georgia, USA, has developed a distinctive artistic style that seamlessly blends Eastern and Western influences. Her latest exhibition is a testament to her ongoing exploration of Korean art and culture, presented through a contemporary lens.
