Asuncion, Paraguay to Host 2026 World Skate Games

Asuncion, Paraguay – The vibrant city of Asuncion, Paraguay, has been officially selected as the host of the 2026 World Skate Games. The announcement was made by Sabatino Aracu, President of World Skate, the international governing body for roller sports, in Italy.
This prestigious event, marking its fifth edition, is expected to draw over 10,000 athletes from approximately 100 countries to Asuncion in October 2026. The games will feature a diverse range of roller sports, encompassing 13 disciplines and 23 sub-disciplines, including popular events such as inline skating, skateboarding, and roller hockey.
Paraguay's successful bid was solidified after the Paraguayan government expressed its intention to host the games during a World Skate meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, in February. Alberto Herrera Ayala, President of the Pan American Roller Sports Confederation, expressed enthusiasm for the decision, highlighting its positive impact on the development of roller sports across the continent.
The 2026 World Skate Games hold historical significance as the second time the event will be held in South America, following the 2022 games in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Notably, the 2022 games witnessed participation from athletes like Cuba's Dayan Milan, who achieved a commendable 7th place in the long-distance event.
The World Skate Games, often referred to as the "Olympics of roller sports," garner significant attention from roller sports enthusiasts worldwide. For Paraguay, hosting this event presents an opportunity to elevate its national brand and stimulate the growth of its sports industry, particularly in roller sports. The Paraguayan government aims to deliver a successful and memorable event, solidifying its position as a prominent force in the world of roller sports.
