Panama City, Panama - A total of 512 new officers from the National Aeronaval System (SENAN), National Border Service (Senafront), and the National Migration System (SNM) graduated on Friday, January 10th. The graduation ceremony was held at the Teniente Octavio Rodríguez Garrido Air Base, formerly known as Howard Air Base.
President José Raúl Mulino expressed his satisfaction at the graduation, stating that it reaffirms Panama's sovereignty throughout its territory. He emphasized that while law enforcement officers carry badges and weapons, this does not elevate their status above other citizens, nor does it diminish it. He stressed the importance of mutual respect between law enforcement and the public. "You are allies of the Panamanian State in safeguarding the defense of our security, our territory, and above all, in preventing the increase in crime," President Mulino stated.
The President acknowledged the significant investment in security, emphasizing that the cost of inadequate security far outweighs the cost of maintaining a well-equipped and supported force. He announced the upcoming acquisition of a large number of new uniforms for all security forces to improve their appearance and morale.
In addition to personnel, the police force received a substantial equipment upgrade, including 146 motorcycles, 55 bicycles, 18 outboard motors, 15 scooters, and a jet ski. President Mulino stressed the importance of proper maintenance and care for these assets, emphasizing that they are valuable investments in the country's security.
This graduation ceremony marks a significant step forward in strengthening Panama's security forces and enhancing the country's overall security.
