Yeongam, Jeollanam-do - A festival where foreigners residing in Korea can showcase their talents through Korean pop songs and enjoy a celebration with local residents is being organized. Mokpo MBC announced that it will host the '2025 Da-eoullim Singing Contest' at 7:00 PM on September 20th at a special stage in the Daebul Sports Park in Yeongam.

This event features foreigners living in Korea, including foreign workers and multicultural families, as the main participants. Contestants will freely perform and compete with their Korean singing skills. In particular, it is expected that unique performances will unfold as participants are also allowed to rewrite Korean songs in their native languages.

Anyone can apply for the contest, either individually or as a team. Applications can be submitted via a Google Form or by email until the end of this month, August 31st. The preliminary round will be held at 2:00 PM on September 7th at the Daebul Industrial Complex Culture Center in Yeongam, where 8 to 10 teams will be selected to advance to the main competition.

With a total prize pool of 4 million won, including a grand prize of 2 million won, the contest will encourage the passion of the participants. A Mokpo MBC official stated, "This event is especially meaningful as it is being held in Samho, Yeongam, an area with a high concentration of foreign workers in the shipbuilding industry." The official added, "We hope this contest will serve as an opportunity for foreigners and local residents to understand each other and come together in harmony."

The 'Da-eoullim Singing Contest' is expected to become more than just a competition; it will be a venue for people from diverse cultural backgrounds to communicate and connect through the common language of music. It is seen as a valuable opportunity for foreigners, who have become an integral part of Korean society, to share their own culture and experience Korean culture. At the same time, it will be a chance for local residents to feel a closer connection with their foreign neighbors. The focus is on whether this contest will go beyond a simple event and establish itself as a new festival that promotes diversity and fosters harmony in the local community.
