According to recently released official data, electric vehicle sales in Paraguay accounted for 2.4% of total car sales in 2024, a significant increase from the 1.4% recorded in the previous year.

A Colombian historian, deeply impressed by Paraguay's unique and eventful history, expressed surprise at the fact that even in this veiled nation, the transition to electric vehicles is beginning in earnest. He recalled that Paraguay was the first nation in South America to achieve stability after independence but remained isolated from the outside world for a long time under the dictatorial rule of Gaspar Rodríguez de Francia from 1816.

In particular, the 'War of the Triple Alliance' from 1864 to 1870 is recorded as the most tragic event in Paraguayan history. Paraguay, fighting against the Triple Alliance of Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay, suffered devastating losses, with up to 90% of its male population perishing, yet it continued its tenacious resistance.
