- Seeking creative startup ideas utilizing Daejeon public data… Applications accepted until May 31st

Daejeon Metropolitan City is hosting the ‘2025 Daejeon Public Data Utilization Startup Competition’ to discover creative business models utilizing public data and to promote data-based startup activities.

This competition is jointly hosted by Daejeon Metropolitan City, its autonomous districts, Daejeon Urban Corporation, Daejeon Transportation Corporation, and Daejeon Facilities Management Corporation, and is organized by the Daejeon Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency. It is designed to discover innovative ideas in the region and expand the base for data-driven startups.

Particularly this year, in collaboration with the Daejeon Regional Meteorological Administration, special prizes and prize money will be awarded to outstanding teams utilizing weather data. Furthermore, professional consulting and business development support will be actively provided for the winning entries.

The competition categories are ▲Product and Service Development utilizing public data and ▲Social Problem Solving Idea Planning. Anyone interested in public data can participate individually or as a team.

To help participants concretize their ideas, the Daejeon Metropolitan City Big Data Open Lab will run business model development training. Participants who complete the training will receive extra points during the evaluation process.

Individuals or teams wishing to participate in the competition can apply online through the Daejeon Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency's Project Management System (https://pms.dicia.or.kr) until May 31st.

The final winners will be selected through expert evaluation, with a total of 12 winning entries to be announced in July. A total of 14.5 million KRW in prize money will be awarded to the winners. Additionally, an awards ceremony and an exhibition of the winning works will be held on July 31st.

The top prize winners in each category will be granted the qualification to advance to the finals of the ‘13th Pan-Government Public Data Utilization Startup Competition’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Depending on their performance in the finals, follow-up support such as startup preparation and investment attraction will be provided.
