Namwon, South Korea – The city of Namwon has announced that its iconic Gwanghallu Pavilion and the surrounding tourist complex have been chosen as one of the top 100 tourist destinations in Korea for 2025-2026.
The "Korea Tourism 100" list, compiled by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization, is a biennial selection of the top 100 destinations that both domestic and international tourists should visit. This recognition highlights Namwon's rich historical, cultural, and natural attractions.
Gwanghallu Pavilion, renowned as the setting for the classic Korean love story "Chunhyangjeon," holds significant cultural value as a prime example of Joseon-era gardens. The pavilion's stone wall path, illuminated by soft lights, and its enchanting nighttime ambiance have earned it a spot on the "Korea's Best Night Spots 100" list in 2023.
The Namwon tourist complex offers a variety of attractions, including the Chunhyang Theme Park, Aerospace Science Center, and the National Folk Music Institute, along with accommodations and dining options. The nearby Hampado Park is also being developed with facilities such as a forest kindergarten, a children's art center, and a moonlit garden.
Mayor Choi Kyung-sik expressed his enthusiasm for this achievement, stating, "Being selected for the 'Korea Tourism 100' list, along with Gwanghallu Pavilion, is a truly meaningful event. We will continue to enhance the quality of our tourist destinations and offer diverse programs to provide both domestic and international visitors with rich and memorable experiences in Namwon."
