Seoul, South Korea – The National Heritage Promotion Agency has teamed up with popular stationery brand Composition Studio to launch a new line of notebooks featuring traditional Korean artwork. The "Chaekgado and Munbango Fountain Pen Notebooks" collection, inspired by the elegant and intricate paintings of Joseon Dynasty scholars, has been met with overwhelming enthusiasm.
Initially introduced on the crowdfunding platform Tumblbug in December, the collection exceeded its funding goal by a staggering 2235%. This remarkable response highlights the public's growing interest in preserving and promoting Korea's rich cultural heritage.
The notebooks draw inspiration from the chaekgado and munbango genres of Korean painting, which depict books, scholarly objects, and other literary tools. The designs are based on the works of Yi Hyeong-rok, a renowned Joseon Dynasty court painter celebrated for his mastery of chaekgado.
The lined notebook features the painting "Jeon Yihyeongrokpil Chaekgado," while the unlined notebook showcases "Yihyeongrokpil Chaekgado." Both notebooks are priced at 22,000 won and are available at nine 사랑 cultural goods stores located within Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, and Deoksugung palaces, as well as online at the K-Heritage Store.
This collaboration between the National Heritage Promotion Agency and Composition Studio aims to introduce Korea's cultural heritage to a wider audience and foster a deeper appreciation for the nation's artistic traditions.
