Vancouver, BC – Solaris, a leading European bus manufacturer, has secured a major contract with TransLink, the transit authority for Metro Vancouver, to supply a substantial fleet of modern trolleybuses. This agreement marks a significant step in Solaris's strategic expansion into the North American market.

The initial contract entails the delivery of 107 twelve-meter trolleybuses. However, the agreement includes options that could significantly expand the order, potentially adding 201 more twelve-meter units and 204 eighteen-meter articulated trolleybuses. This flexible contract structure allows TransLink to adapt its fleet expansion based on evolving ridership and operational needs.

This win comes on the heels of Solaris's successful entry into the United States, where it secured a contract to provide electric buses to King County Metro in Seattle. These developments underscore the effectiveness of Solaris's strategic plan to penetrate the North American market, as outlined in the CAF Group's 2026 strategic roadmap.

"This new contract in Vancouver is a clear indication that our strategy in North America is bearing fruit," a Solaris spokesperson stated. "We are very pleased to be able to collaborate with TransLink in its effort to provide more sustainable public transport."

Deliveries of the initial 107 trolleybuses are expected to commence in the latter half of 2026 and extend through 2027. TransLink's decision to partner with Solaris highlights the company's reputation for producing high-quality, reliable vehicles that can be tailored to meet the unique demands of urban transit systems.

TransLink, responsible for a comprehensive network of transportation services across the Metro Vancouver region, including buses, trolleybuses, the SkyTrain rapid transit system, the West Coast Express commuter rail, and the SeaBus ferry, is committed to modernizing its fleet and reducing its environmental impact. The adoption of Solaris's advanced trolleybus technology aligns with this goal.

While the North American market for zero-emission vehicles is still in its early stages, it presents substantial growth opportunities. Solaris is well-positioned to capitalize on these prospects, actively participating in various tenders for the supply of buses and trolleybuses.

Solaris's North American expansion complements its strong presence in the European market, where it has delivered over 5,500 zero-emission vehicles and established itself as a market leader. With a robust order backlog of over 1,600 vehicles, 92% of which are zero- or low-emission, Solaris anticipates continued growth and enhanced profitability in the years ahead.
