The Era of 'Hybrid Intelligence': Harmony Between Humans and AI is the Key to Future Competitiveness

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) transitions from a mere productivity tool to a strategic "colleague," the concept of "Hybrid Intelligence"—the harmonious co-evolution of human intuition and AI efficiency—has emerged as the definitive roadmap for corporate survival.

At the 'CIO Summit 2026' held on February 26th at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas, hosted by the Electronic Times (Etnews), South Korea's leading Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and industry experts gathered to discuss the theme: "Harmony between Humans and AI: The Key to Multi-Agent Success."

From Automation to "Co-evolution"
The summit’s core message was clear: the future of AI is not about replacement, but about "augmentation" and "co-evolution."

Oh Hyun-sik, Vice President of the AI Innovation Center at Lotte Innovate, emphasized that true competitiveness lies in the architectural design of collaboration. "The essence of harmony is not just using AI together, but strategically assigning tasks," Oh stated. He noted that while simple tasks should be automated, 80% of human resources should be redirected to the top 20% of high-complexity tasks where human creativity is indispensable. This creates a "Co-evolutionary Loop" where both technology and people grow simultaneously.

Trust and Literacy in High-Stakes Industries
In sectors where precision and ethics are paramount, such as finance and healthcare, the definition of "harmony" takes on a deeper meaning of trust.

Lee Kyung-jong, Head of the Financial AI 2 Center (VP) at KB Kookmin Bank, defined AI as an "essential agent" that solves pain points on the front lines. He identified three pillars of 'AI Literacy' necessary for employees: the ability to understand and use AI, the capacity to build structural frameworks, and ethical judgment. "Only when these are met can a trust-based organizational transformation occur," Lee added.

In the medical field, Lim Jun-seok, Head of the Digital Health Office at Yonsei University Health System, proposed AI as the solution to the "Iron Triangle" of healthcare: accessibility, quality, and cost. By redesigning workflows to include AI-based remote reading and diagnostic assistance, hospitals can amplify human expertise and bridge the gap in medical services.

The Rise of Multi-Agent Systems
Supplementing the summit's discussion, industry analysts point out that 2026 is becoming the year of "Multi-Agent Systems." Unlike single-task AI, multi-agent systems involve multiple AI entities collaborating with each other and humans to solve multi-layered problems. This technological shift requires CIOs to move beyond simple software implementation and toward "Orchestration"—the ability to manage a complex ecosystem of human and digital workers.

Conclusion: The New Standard for CIOs
The CIO Summit 2026 concluded that the "Intelligence Harmony" is no longer an optional strategy but a mandatory evolution. As AI agents become more autonomous, the human role of providing "context," "ethics," and "strategic direction" becomes more valuable than ever.

The summit served as a powerful reminder that in the race for AI supremacy, the winners will not be those with the fastest algorithms, but those who best master the art of human-AI synergy.
