The Family Farming Fair held in San Pedro de Ycuamandyyú successfully concluded, directly benefiting over 800 families. Small-scale producers from 36 farmers' associations directly sold fresh and processed agricultural products at affordable prices.

The fair was held on Sunday, June 29th, in the city of San Pedro de Ycuamandyyú, to commemorate the Feast of Saint Peter the Apostle. Carlos Giménez, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), attended the event. Coordinated by the MAG, the fair aimed to revitalize the local economy and promote sustainable rural development. A primary goal for the MAG was to eliminate intermediaries in the distribution of agricultural products from family farms and facilitate direct sales.

Participating farmers showcased a diverse range of eco-friendly agricultural products, including fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy products, baked goods, and handicrafts. Visitors expressed great satisfaction with the excellent quality and reasonable prices, attending in large numbers and providing significant support to the farmers.

The MAG emphasized that these fairs are part of a policy to strengthen family farming. This initiative not only revitalizes the economy of rural communities but also provides a crucial opportunity to highlight the hard work of producers who contribute to the nation's food security. Notably, June 29, 2024, was a Sunday, and the Feast of Saint Peter the Apostle is celebrated annually on June 29th, making it one of the most important events among the patron saint festivities of San Pedro de Ycuamandyyú. This festival holds religious significance and serves as an important cultural event that strengthens community cohesion.

Beyond just selling agricultural products, this fair also served as an occasion to strengthen community and cultural ties within the religious and traditional festive atmosphere of San Pedro de Ycuamandyyú. Local authorities, MAG representatives, and community leaders participated in the event, which was evaluated as successful in both its organizational aspects and social impact.

The success of this fair demonstrates its significant contribution to resolving distribution issues faced by small-scale farms, providing consumers with fresh and affordable agricultural products, and stimulating the local economy. Furthermore, it presented a model for supporting the sustainable development of farming families through cooperation between government ministries and local communities. The San Pedro region is one of Paraguay's major agricultural areas, with small-scale farming being a significant part of its economy. Such fairs highlight the importance of small-scale agriculture and contribute to improving the quality of life in rural areas by providing farmers with opportunities for direct income generation.

The MAG plans to expand similar events in the future to benefit more farmers and consumers. These efforts are expected to play a crucial role in strengthening Paraguay's food sovereignty and achieving sustainable agricultural development.
