COLOGNE, Germany – The Chungnam Content Institute (acting director Son Byung-sun) announced on August 19, 2026, that it will operate a "Chungnam Joint Pavilion" (B2B) at Gamescom 2026, the world’s largest gaming trade fair, held in Cologne, Germany, from August 26 to 30. Through this initiative, the institute aims to showcase the competitive edge of South Korean gaming content and actively facilitate global business opportunities.
A Gateway for Regional Game Developers
Gamescom 2026, which has seen record-high demand with all exhibition booths sold out for the first time in history, serves as a vital platform for the global gaming industry. Recognizing this, the Chungnam Content Institute has selected three promising local gaming companies to represent the region. These developers—1HP Studio, CompassVisio, and QueseraGames—will present their high-quality, diverse game lineups, ranging from action platformers to rhythm adventures, in hopes of securing global publishing contracts and attracting foreign investment.
"This joint pavilion is more than just an exhibition; it is a strategic business platform designed to promote our region’s excellent IP to the global market and drive tangible export outcomes," said Son Byung-sun, the acting director. "We are committed to providing systematic support throughout the entire business process to ensure these companies can maximize their potential on the global stage."
Showcasing Innovative Korean Titles
The three participating companies are set to highlight the creativity and technical prowess of the South Korean indie gaming scene:
1HP Studio – ‘INARI’: An action platformer defined by its high-speed kunai-based combat and unique teleportation system. The game has already garnered significant international attention, raising over $140,000 on the U.S. crowdfunding platform Kickstarter and achieving over 100,000 wishlist registrations on Steam. Inspired by precision-focused titles, 1HP Studio aims to solidify its fanbase in the European market during the event.
CompassVisio – ‘Battle Joker Round’: A strategic mobile game that blends card-based gameplay with urban development mechanics. By incorporating elements reminiscent of "Monopoly GO" alongside strategic card play, the game is designed to be accessible to a global audience. The developer plans to use Gamescom to explore partnerships with global publishers and gauge European market reception.
QueseraGames – ‘Nientum – Op.ZERO’: A rhythm adventure game that combines fairy-tale storytelling with full Japanese voice acting and high-quality orchestral soundtracks. Coming off the success of their previous title "Kalpa," which achieved 1.9 million global downloads, QueseraGames has seen a 99% positive rating on Steam for its early access build. The company intends to leverage this momentum at Gamescom to prepare for a successful global launch.
Strengthening Korea's Presence in the Global Industry
As the Korean gaming industry continues to diversify beyond traditional genres, the presence of these small and medium-sized enterprises at Gamescom highlights the vital role of local support institutions. With the global industry gathering in Cologne, the Chungnam Joint Pavilion stands as a testament to the region's dedication to fostering creative innovation and expanding the international footprint of "K-Games." By providing a dedicated space for B2B meetings, the institute is effectively bridging the gap between local developers and the global ecosystem, paving the way for the next generation of Korean gaming success stories.
