LOS ANGELES — The soundtrack for Netflix's animated hit series 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' continues its historic run, with eight of its songs simultaneously charting on the Billboard Hot 100 for an impressive nine consecutive weeks. The series’ in-universe groups, the Huntresses and their rivals the Saza Boyz, have become chart mainstays, showcasing the crossover power of K-pop-infused storytelling.
The album itself, the 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' OST, holds a firm grip on the Billboard 200, securing the #2 spot for the seventh straight week. Its lead single, "Golden," by the Huntresses, stands out as a titan, maintaining its #1 position on the Hot 100 for a third straight week and a total of four weeks overall. The track also reigns supreme on both Billboard's Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, a clear indicator of its worldwide appeal.
The Saza Boyz also proved their staying power, with "Your Idol" and "Soda Pop" landing at #5 and #6, respectively. While other tracks from the soundtrack experienced minor drops, they remained in the upper echelons of the charts: the Huntresses’ "How It's Done" at #9, "What It Sounds Like" at #22, "Takedown" at #29, and the collaboration track "Free" at #32.
A special version of "Takedown," featuring vocals from TWICE members Jungyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung, also performed well, charting at #58.
Mainstream K-Pop Powerhouses Maintain Their Dominance
Beyond the animated series, established K-pop groups are also making significant waves on the Billboard charts.
TWICE continues their milestone year, with their fourth full-length album, 'THIS IS FOR,' charting for its eighth consecutive week on the Billboard 200, landing at #96. The group’s presence on the charts is further bolstered by their recent mini-album's title track, "STRATEGY," which has charted on the Hot 100 for seven weeks, reaching #59. This success follows a banner year that included their historic headlining performance at Lollapalooza Chicago, the first for a K-pop girl group.
BLACKPINK's enduring global popularity is evident as their track "Ttui-eo" charts on the Hot 100 for its eighth straight week, currently at #86.
Stray Kids (SKZ), a group known for their powerful performances, saw their fourth full-length album, 'KARMA,' maintain a top-tier position at #4 on the Billboard 200, just a week after it debuted at #1.
KATSEYE, the global girl group formed by HYBE and Geffen Records, is also proving to be a formidable force. Their second EP, 'BEAUTIFUL CHAOS,' made a massive leap of 17 spots to #28 on the Billboard 200, now on its tenth consecutive week. They also have two tracks, "Gabriella" and "Nalley," simultaneously on the Hot 100 at #64 and #100, respectively. This marks the second week in a row that both songs have charted together.
This latest round of Billboard charts paints a clear picture: K-pop is not just a passing trend but a dominant force in the global music landscape, with both fictional and real-life groups contributing to its success.
