Department Stores Gear Up for Lunar New Year Gift Sets

Seoul, South Korea – Major department stores in South Korea are set to kick off pre-orders for Lunar New Year gift sets this weekend. With the holiday season approaching, retailers are offering a wide variety of gift options at discounted prices to cater to the growing demand.

According to industry sources, Lotte Department Store will commence its pre-order sales from 20th to 5th, featuring over 230 gift sets across various categories including meat, seafood, and fruits. Customers can enjoy discounts of up to 60% on select items. To meet the increasing demand, the store has increased the supply of popular items like beef and seafood by approximately 20%. Additionally, the price range for seafood products has been expanded to include premium options priced up to 600,000 won. Lotte Department Store's online platform will also offer over 18,000 gift sets with discounts of up to 65%.

Shinsegae Department Store will be offering 260 gift sets, encompassing a wide range of products such as agricultural produce, meat, seafood, and wine. The pre-order period will run from 20th to 9th, with a total of 50,000 sets available, marking a 10% increase compared to the previous year. Customers can expect discounts of up to 60% on various items, including beef (5-10%), dried pollack (20%), fruits (10%), wine (50%), and health foods (60%). To reduce costs, the store has expanded its selection of fruits in the 100,000-200,000 won price range through direct sourcing.

Hyundai Department Store will also join in on the pre-order sales from [Start Date] to [End Date], offering approximately 200 popular gift sets, including beef, dried pollack, fruits, health foods, and liquor. Customers can enjoy discounts of up to 30% on these items. The department store's online platforms, The Hyundai.com and Hyundai Hmall, will also offer pre-order sales starting from 20th.

Galleria Department Store will begin its pre-order sales on 20th and will continue until 9th. Focusing on mid-range products like fruits and general merchandise, the store has expanded its selection to over 360 items, representing a 30% increase compared to the previous year.

As the Lunar New Year approaches, South Korean consumers are expected to flock to department stores to secure the perfect gift sets for their loved ones. With a wide variety of options and attractive discounts, retailers are aiming to capture a larger share of the holiday market.
