Persona AI Spotlighted Amidst 'Deepseek Shock' from China

Persona AI, a South Korean AI company, is gaining attention amidst the 'Deepseek Shock' originating from China. The company has won the CES 2025 Innovation Award for its on-device AI technology that operates without the internet or GPUs. In particular, Persona AI's AI engine is recognized as an innovative technology that solves security and cost problems.

Persona AI's AI technology, unveiled at CES 2025, carried a powerful message of 'NO INTERNET, NO GPU'. In fact, this technology can perform various AI functions without an internet connection and is executed using CPU-based AI computing technology instead of GPUs. It is evaluated as '3-Free AI' that solves the limitations of existing AI technologies such as security, cost, and hallucination (model hallucination problem).

According to the company, Persona AI's technological strength lies in its self-developed AI engine. Existing global AI models operate on a cloud basis, incurring high server costs and security issues. However, Persona AI has implemented a lightweight AI engine that operates without the internet. In particular, it is designed to enable AI computation without GPUs, allowing AI to be used at a cost of less than 50% of the existing cost.

In addition, Persona AI's AI technology demonstrates strengths in fields where security is important, such as finance, public, and military. Unlike Deepseek, which is embroiled in controversy over personal information leakage issues, Persona AI can operate AI in an on-premise environment without an internet connection, providing a high level of data protection. Thanks to this technology, many companies and public institutions have already introduced Persona AI's solutions.

The generative AI 'SONA 1' introduced by Persona AI has LLM (Large Language Model) functions as well as image generation, enabling various AI applications such as document work, translation, and coding. In particular, it is attracting attention as an innovative business model in that it can be used unlimitedly after a one-time purchase without additional costs.

Persona AI has established itself as a leading AI technology company by developing FPGA-based AI semiconductors since 2018 and launching AI kiosks in 2020. In 2023, it introduced the Korean generative AI model 'KGPT', solidifying its position in the domestic AI market, and is strengthening its competitiveness in the global AI market by jointly launching AI PCs with TG Sambo last year.

Yoo Seung-jae, CEO of Persona AI, said, "The era of 'one person, one bot' where anyone can easily use AI is becoming a reality." He expressed his ambition to "show the potential of Korean AI with '3-Free AI' that has no worries about cost, security, or hallucination."
