The bodies of the four victims were recovered in late October following the horrific incident that shook the small Bolivian town. Authorities are still searching for the remains of a fifth victim and have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators.
Cochabamba Police Chief Edson Claure Mora announced that specialized units, including the Violent Crimes Squad and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team, had been deployed to identify and apprehend the suspects. He further emphasized the collaboration with prosecutors to ensure that all accomplices and those who aided the criminals would face the full weight of the law.
Grieving families have been vocal in their calls for harsh punishment for the perpetrators, expressing deep frustration with the perceived sluggishness of the investigation. Notably, the victims' lawyer revealed a shocking allegation that a local community leader had allegedly orchestrated a confrontation between the victims, raising further questions about the circumstances surrounding the crime.
Bolivia's Deputy Interior Minister, Jhonny Aguilera, confirmed that two of the victims had participated in the Parotani protests in October, suggesting a possible connection between the incident and the ongoing social unrest.
The horrific event has sent shockwaves through Bolivian society, prompting the government to pledge a thorough investigation and severe consequences for those responsible. However, the families of the victims remain determined to seek truth and justice, vowing to continue their fight until all perpetrators are brought to account.
