ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay – A unique cultural event is set to unfold this Saturday, May 24, at the América Theater in Asunción, the capital of Paraguay. Singer-songwriter (cantautor) Víctor Riveros and journalist and writer Andrés Colmán Gutiérrez will jointly present the artistic performance 'La música de las palabras' (The Music of Words). This concert aims to transcend the boundaries of literature and music through the musical reinterpretation of poetry and stories, offering audiences a moment of deep emotion and reflection.

A Harmony of Literature and Music, A New Artistic Experience

'The Music of Words' goes beyond simply singing songs or reciting texts. It is an interactive encounter where words from poems, prose, and short stories come alive through guitar melodies and vocalizations, transforming from the page into new artistic forms. The diverse facets of human life – personal stories, struggles, deep emotions, dreams and hopes, pain and healing, and vulnerability and aspiration – are conveyed to the audience through a harmonious fusion of music and literature.

The performance will feature works by renowned Paraguayan authors such as Elvio Romero, Ida Talavera, Jacobo Rauskin, Delfina Acosta, Miguelángel Meza, Susy Delgado, and Lourdes Espínola. Furthermore, pieces by global literary giants like Rabindranath Tagore, the great Indian poet and Nobel laureate in literature, will be transformed into beautiful songs by Víctor Riveros. This promises to expand artistic and emotional horizons by sharing universal human sentiments and experiences beyond regional borders.

Exquisite Works to Grace the Stage

Key pieces to be performed include 'Escribir para los de abajo' (Writing for Those Below), based on a poem by Elvio Romero; 'Acaso es tarde' (Perhaps It's Too Late), set to Delfina Acosta's poem 'Antes del olvido' (Before Oblivion); 'Mitámi ñembyasy', based on a poem by Susy Delgado; and 'Panambi', which sings Miguelángel Meza's poem 'Panambi' (Butterfly).

The concert will also be enriched by diverse works such as Lourdes Espínola's 'Poblado de tu savia' (Populated by Your Sap), Ida Talavera's 'Toviru rekove', Jacobo Rauskin's poem-based 'La musa de la gente común' (The Muse of Ordinary People), and 'Ciudad sin rostro' (Faceless City), a musical adaptation of Andrés Colmán Gutiérrez's prose. Notably, the musical reinterpretation of Rabindranath Tagore's short story 'Prisión y libertad' (Prison and Freedom) is expected to showcase the power of art transcending borders.

Collaborating Artists and Album Release

Beyond Víctor Riveros and Andrés Colmán Gutiérrez, talented musicians including Aldo Franco, Nino Rodríguez, and Diego Duarte will join the stage, creating a platform for organic dialogue between music and literature. Many of the original poets whose works are featured will also be present at the performance, making it a meaningful occasion for creators and audience members to explore the essence of art together.

Several songs included in this performance are featured on Víctor Riveros's fourth album, 'Esencial/Apyte,' released in 2013, and the album will be available for purchase at the venue on the day of the concert.

This cultural event is made possible with the support of the Asunción Municipal Culture Fund (FOCMA), the Paraguayan-American Cultural Center (CCPA), and the Paraguayan Writers' Association (APA). FOCMA's 'Literatura Encantada/Esencial Apyte' project is overseen by Aldo Franco, with Eira Pro and Grupo Nempre Producciones collaborating on the production to ensure the successful staging of this event.

The 'Music of Words' performance will take place on Saturday, May 24, at 9 PM, at the América Theater of the Paraguayan-American Cultural Center. Advance tickets are 30,000 Guaraní, and on-site purchases will be 50,000 Guaraní. For more information and ticket purchases, please inquire via WhatsApp at (0981) 437-535. This concert promises to deliver a special experience where the depth of literature and the melody of music intertwine.
