Gwangju Nongseong Elementary School has undergone a remarkable transformation, emerging from outdated urban facilities into a cutting-edge, future-oriented learning environment infused with artificial intelligence and digital technology. The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education has spearheaded this initiative, expanding its 'Green Smart School Project' to revolutionize aging educational spaces.

This ambitious project, which began in 2021, has seen the school receive approximately 25 billion won in funding since 2023. This investment has facilitated the construction of a brand-new, four-story building, spanning 8,963 square meters, which will replace the school's aging classrooms. The new facility is set to open its doors to students from the first semester of this year.

The state-of-the-art building boasts an array of modern amenities designed to enhance student comfort and promote future-ready education. Key features include:

Smart Classrooms: Equipped with interactive electronic blackboards, these classrooms are designed to facilitate dynamic and engaging learning experiences.
Complex Hub Space: This area provides students with convenient access to restrooms and comfortable rest areas, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment.
Two-Story Library: Bathed in natural light, this expansive library offers versatile spaces for reading, discussions, self-study, and club activities.
Lee Jeong-seon, the Superintendent of Education, emphasized the importance of community input in shaping the new school space. "We actively sought and incorporated feedback from stakeholders to ensure that the school meets the needs of its users," said Lee. "We are committed to transforming our schools into vibrant hubs that embody the vision of our educational community, going beyond the traditional role of a place for studying."

This transformation of Nongseong Elementary School represents a significant step forward in the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education's efforts to create future-oriented learning environments that empower students to thrive in the digital age.
