Spanning 3,172㎡... Features Swimming Pool, Gymnasium, and Childcare Space as a 'Life-Integrated Complex Sports Facility'
Opening Ceremony on May 8th

Daejeon, South Korea – The city of Daejeon is set to enhance the well-being and recreational opportunities for its citizens with the grand opening of the Hanbat Culture and Sports Center on May 8th. Located in the Jung-gu district, specifically in Munhwa-dong, this state-of-the-art complex represents a significant investment in community health and leisure infrastructure. The inauguration marks a key milestone in Daejeon's ambition to become a leading sports city.

The Hanbat Culture and Sports Center is the result of a substantial investment of 22.9 billion Korean Won. Construction commenced in January 2023 and concluded in December 2024, culminating in a comprehensive facility spanning 3,172 square meters across four levels (one basement and three above ground). Its strategic location within the urban core aims to provide easily accessible sports and cultural amenities for all residents.

The center boasts a diverse range of facilities designed to cater to a wide spectrum of interests and age groups. Aquatic enthusiasts will appreciate the inclusion of a 25-meter long swimming pool featuring five lanes, providing ample space for both leisurely swims and fitness training. For indoor sports and recreational activities, a spacious multi-purpose gymnasium has been constructed, capable of hosting various sports such as basketball, volleyball, and badminton, as well as community events.

Recognizing the needs of families with young children, the Hanbat Culture and Sports Center also features a dedicated community childcare center. This space aims to support working parents and provide a nurturing environment for children's development and socialization. Furthermore, a comprehensive living culture center is integrated into the complex, offering versatile spaces including learning rooms for educational programs, a multi-purpose hall suitable for various activities and gatherings, and soundproof rooms for music practice or other noise-sensitive activities. This multi-faceted approach underscores the center's commitment to fostering both physical and cultural well-being within the community.

Addressing the crucial aspect of accessibility, the development includes a separate, three-story parking structure with an expansive floor area of 5,988 square meters. This dedicated parking facility provides a total of 260 parking spaces, significantly alleviating potential parking congestion and ensuring convenient access for visitors arriving by car.

The Daejeon Metropolitan City views the opening of the Hanbat Culture and Sports Center as a tangible achievement in realizing its vision of becoming a "First-Class Sports City," a core objective of the current municipal administration. Officials anticipate that this modern, centrally located facility will serve as a benchmark for other local governments seeking to expand and enhance their community sports infrastructure in a balanced and accessible manner.

Residents interested in utilizing the swimming pool or participating in various programs offered at the Hanbat Culture and Sports Center can find detailed information, including application procedures and program schedules, on the official website of the Daejeon Facilities Management Corporation. The city encourages all citizens to take advantage of this new hub for health, recreation, and community engagement.
